It's Team Gold and Silver for Civil Service Women and Team Bronze for the Civil Service Men
Once again the London Civil Service did very well in the London Business Houses Bridges Relays with the women's "A" team (Rachel Lund, Ellie Cox and Caroline Tuck) winning team gold and the women's "B" team (Natasha Sheel, Ilona Bagi and Natalie Street) winning team silver.
There was also an individual bronze medal for Ilona Bagi. Our women's "C" team (Maureen Noel, Rose Baker and Laura Hurley) were the 4th LBH team home. There were thirty-five women's teams overall with thirteen of them being affiliated to LBH.
The Civil Service men also lived up to their top billing with the "A" team (Nic Gould, Mike Cummings, Crispin Allen and Jerry Carnell) winning team bronze with Mike Cummings also claiming the LBH individual bronze medal as the 3rd fastest LBH man.
All this was achieved without Chris Smith and Orlando Edwards who were both preparing to represent GB at the European Mountain Running Championships. The Civil Service Men's "B" team (Jeremy West, Griff Jones, Andy Davis and John O'Shea) were the 14th LBH team. There was also a mixed incomplete "C" team that didn't close comprising of 2 runners (Tim Cooke and Eniko Nadas). One hundred and forty teams competed in the open category with seventy-four of them being affiliated to LBH.
Katie Meredith who has in recent years successfully represented the Civil Service on a couple of occasions was running for Highgate Harriers as their captain and was the fastest overall woman in 13:50. Katie led her team to 1st place overall. Katie's husband Stephen Meredith, also a Civil Servant, took part running for Highgate Harriers men's "D" team.
A record entry of 165 women and 512 men took part.
